With the increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) it is no surprise that busy business owners have also turned to using this quick and easy tool to help run their businesses.
One area that a lot of business owners struggle with, is their infographics, which may include designing and creating leaflets, business cards and content for social media.
Business owners often find they lack confidence in their designs and abilities when it comes to using design apps such as Canva. They may also struggle with what content to post to attract their ideal clients.
Therefore, with their lack of marketing knowledge, it’s quite easy to see why so many small business owners turn to using AI to help with the promotion of their businesses.
But can AI successfully create professional looking social media graphics for your business?
I asked Chat GPT to create a social media post for my networking group and this is what it came up with.
At first glance, this image looks fantastic. It’s stylish and shares lots of information.
However, I want to start by highlighting the fact that the aim of your social media content is to be individual, share your personality and branding, and to be recognised by your audience.
Yet ai generated content does none of that.
Let’s take a deeper look…
The Font
The font used in an ai image is generally not your branding font. It is the same font used in every other ai generated content post.
Therefore this does not help you to stand out or create consistency for your brand, but will reduce customer recognition.
The Branding Colours
Your branding colours are nowhere to be seen. Yes the colours on the ai image look wonderfully contrasting, but you are borrowing them for this post, which is incredibly confusing to your audience.
The Style
The style used in ai images is very generic. Unrecognisable as YOUR business. It may look aesthetically pleasing, but so does a basket of kittens. Your audience wants you to be authentically you and this won’t come across in one of these ai generated posts.
The image is also missing a business logo and uses graphics that are not part of your branding kit.
The Layout
The layout is too crowded! Where do you look first??? The font is also too small!
For this amount of information you will have to rely on your audience to zoom in to read it.
And let’s be honest most people won’t do that.
Less is definitely more!
The Information
The information shared on an ai image is not your words, it doesn’t share your passion and basically it’s not your business.
The content shared has to come from your mouth, in your language and way of speech, so your audience can make a connection.
So do your business a favour and create your own images. Apps such as Canva are easy and quick to use when you have the know how, and to be honest that won’t take you long to learn.
